3. Ginger

4. Marshmallow root

Herbs include marshmallow roots. It remains used in coughing syrup and lozenges to relieve a dry cough. According to a survey-based study, it is an effective treatment for soothing the throat and reducing irritation caused by dry cough. Marshmallow root may have antibacterial properties as well.

5. peppermint

Menthol, found in peppermint, helps numb nerve endings in the throat irritated by coughing. It may relieve pain and reduce the desire to cough. Peppermint also relieves congestion and has been shown to have antibacterial and antiviral properties.

Peppermint can remain consumed in a variety of ways. Sipping peppermint tea or sucking on peppermint lozenges are two examples. To help relieve nighttime coughs, drink peppermint tea right before bed.
